No outgoing audio with FaceTime. I'm using the internal mic, in the system preferences sound menu the internal mic level meter is showing that the mic is working. Skype works, iChat works, but in FaceTime the person with whoom I communicate (on his Mac or his iPhone) can not hear me.

The com.apple.ichat.plist on my iMac holds a reference to a "microphone gain" Setting but I run a AppleScript to change my Audio Settings on Accepting a Video or Audio Invite so I think it is connected to that. com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist can effect the audio in some apps even if you have no MIDI device connected.

Friend with a new iMac called me on iChat today about a problem he was having. We audio chatted, shared screens, etc., and had no problems communicating. Tonight, he called via Facetime. Picture both ways was fine, but while I could hear him, he couldn't hear me. I have an iMac 27" quad i7 running 10.7.1.

Audio alerts would not work in iChat. I quit iChat, killed core audio, launched ichat and audio alerts are back in iChat. Thanks for the tip. Jussi says: March 2, 2006 at 11:55 pm.
