For about a week now I've have no audio when I play .vob files in Streamclip and Quicktime. I noticed this happened right after Perian auto-updated itself so I'm wondering if that's what caused it. I tried to uninstall Perian and then put an older version back.

Since VOB files contain both audio and video, I doubt that's actually the problem. It sounds like there might be an issue that the audio encoding isn't being recognized. Try pointing Handbrake at the folder too, and see if it then is able to figure out the audio encoding.

I used Handbrake to extract the VOB files as mpeg4 files, then used MPEG Streamclip to combine the files as one 40 minute mpeg4. I then used iDVD (on my MacBook Pro, using 10.5) to burn a DVD. The DVD now works fine on the MacBook Pro, but when I try to view it on my standalone DVD player, I get video but no sound.
