In iChat the other parties do not get any audio from me, in either video or audio mode. Thye should go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section and try the Bandwidth setting at 500kbps. This is because iChat 5 "sees" the whole Internet Connection speed and can "overwhelm" slower Buddies and the iChat Buffering can not cope (it has always been Audio that gets lost first) They can change this setting during a live chat.

It’s a simple two-step process: Go to iChat’s Preferences and click on the Audio/Video tab. Next to Bandwidth Limit, choose a connection speed from the drop-down menu. I’ve found 500 kbps to be the most reliable, but 1 Mbps might work too. You can change the bandwidth limit while a video chat is running to see the effects of each menu option.
