The only downside that some suffer is poor audio/video sync. Of course the Denon has an adjustment for that. On my system the component always needs TV calibration to get the color/brightness etc right. You might try feeding the TV component and the digital audio to the Denon and continue to use the Denon HDMI output as a test.
