I should also have said, Intel (R) Display Audio is the only driver displayed in Device Manager - no sign of Realtek HD Audio Manager. I guess that is the problem. I can find Realtek on Acer drivers page and have downloaded but am uncertain how to install. It just comes in a zipped file with no obvious sign of how to run.

My acer aspire 4520 have no sound. I'm tried to install driver from www.realtek.com but still no sound. I have install realtek R255 but after i'm install it , my device installation says " this device not succesfully installed " and i get yellow icon on Realtek High Definition Audio in Device Manager.

Already uninstall / reinstall audio drivers. Download and installed latest Intel drivers. In Device Manager, all audio devices reported working. No available devices listed under SOUND. I also has an KVM switch with Audio. So I have a USB Audio in Device Manager too. However, under Sound there is no device listed.
