Try to download the audio drivers from Toshiba Website for your model for Windows 7. (there are some many model u300...I couldn't help). In the same time you could update your bios. Driver & Download by model. If it still doens't work with the manufacturer drivers maybe there is a hardware issue.

Try going into Device Manager and Expand Sound,Video,Audio Controllers and right click what comes up and choose Uninstall and restart the PC....see what happens If that does not work....go to Toshiba site and install the Chip-set driver and restart the PC.....then try and install the correct Audio driver.
