and the motorola DCX-3400 actually DOES have a place to change the audio settings. turn on the TV. turn OFF the cable box. press "menu" on the remote... the "hardware menu" appears. it's mostly video settings, but there's an "add'l HDMI settings" button that allows selection of DVI vs HDMI on that output and allows you to select the type of audio out.
