I have plugged hdmi cable from pc to tv and picture is fine. In nvidia control panel there is a setup digital audio option it detects my vga caed and i can select sound turn off or LG tv. so there is a bright spot at the end of the tunnel. Don't worry about burning anything as it's only a sound cable, and it does not carry any power. Once you do it, go to windows control panel and select SPDIF as your default sound playback. AFAIK in nvidialand, only the 8800gt can output 5.1 audio over the HDMI connection. The question of how or if was raised in another thread and there is no confirmation eitherway yet. An adapter can take the DVI standard and translate to HDMI, but passing audio through depends on how the DVI connector is setup outside the spec to provide the audio pth. Worse, the reference GT board HAS the SPDIF passthru on the PC board, but noone so far has populated the components to activate the circuit.
