Checking the HDMI configuration it shows that I have 8 sound channels available. So I know it is not the connection from the nettop to the receiver, and I know it is not the receiver. If I go to the configuration for the NVidia Ion 2, I can configure all the video options using the NVidia driver/configuration tool.

I'm trying to get HDMI audio on a Geforce GTS 450 to work on Centos 5.5. I have the latest NVidia binary drivers and ALSA 1.0.23. Uner Windows 7, it just works as the default sound device after installing NVidia drivers, so I know the card can do it.
