This should also work (and likely be simpler) using your nVidia card to connect to the AVR (with a DVI/DP to HDMI cable; unless your card has 2 HDMI ports). I do not remember ever seeing/reading that dual screens (essentially what this would be) causing decreased performance (and I've used dual screens for years).
