That Onkyo 282 is just about the same as they put in their receivers. Plus it is specified at less power at 6 ohms than at 8 ohms, this is a sign of a very weak amp. Never buy any separate amp that only lists 8 and 6 ohm power, but not 4 ohms, regardless what impedance rating the speaker has.

Audiophyte. Nov 13, 2005. #4. jpg1582. Excellent Thread, I am also looking at the M-282 to see if it fills my bill. Currently, I am powing my Boston Acoustic VR14 with a Carver M-1.5t and using a Yamaha receiver as a pre-amp. However, the Carver is on its last legs and has been repaired twice and this time it is taking a trip to the junkyard.
