I just purchased a R625 65 inch TV. Connected it to an Onkyo TX-RZ920 receiver, via the ARC on both systems. Enabled ARC on TV and Receiver. Updated both systems for system updates. HDMI cables are new, using a 2.0 from TV to receiver. Using any app with the Roku on the TV, I get constant sound drop out.

It was either due to going to an actual 1.4 version HDMI cable between the Motorola box and the Onkyo or it was an HDMI setting in the Onkyo's setup menu. I wish I could recall. What I can say is that I'm using a 1.3a version HDMI cable between the Onkyo and the TV, and that works fine to get full 3D on the 3D channel.

If your Onkyo receiver is connected after the DVR and the recorded skip occurs whether it is in use or not, then I think it can be pretty much eliminated as a cause. I have an Onkyo SR604 connected via HDMI and with Shotime I get drops about 5-10 times per hour.

Originally, I had the VIP1200 attached to my Onkyo and it suffered the audio dropout problem unless the Dolby Surround was switched off in the settings. I switched the boxes and voila, the dropouts are 100% gone. I know that the Onkyo AV receivers are notoriously sensitive to switches in dolby surround to stereo signals.
