Most sets will not do this. The optical is for getting 5.1 from the internal OTA tuner. It's highly unlikely you get sound passed from HDMI to your optical out. Few sets do this without problems. And you're not getting 5.1 from the Wii BTW. You can't pass RCA to TV and out the optical and magically get 5.1.
