Orb 2.1 vs B&W bookshelf which is better?
http://forums.audioreview.com/speakers/orb-2-1-vs-b-w-bookshelf-better-31065.html
B & W M1's would be excellent for desktop with an 8" sub as they are 4" with metal tweets, BTW. Show me another 200.00 speaker with new engineering in the simple design crossover and metal tweets also an outstanding compact enclosure design and materials. I have 2 that I use as 5.1 rear and I love these speakers.

Official Bowers and Wilkins M-1 Thread | AVS Forum
https://www.avsforum.com/threads/official-bowers-and-wilkins-m-1-thread.1482852/
I just replaced the center Orb speakers (two of them combined) with a single B&W M-1, recalibrated, and dropped the sub's crossover from 120Hz to 90Hz. This is a marked improvement in terms of audibility. The midrange is greatly improved (what BW does best) as …

This tiny speaker has been very well received and B&W has decided to build on that success by redesigning and updating the M1 to the M-1. This key speaker can be used as all five speakers in a 5.1 setup and has a table-top stand that allows you to rotate the speaker so that it is oriented horizontally for easier placement as a center channel ...
Bose LifeStyle V25 vs B&W M1 or others? - Audio
https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1887272
Small speakers that are 'hidden' and can be mounted to the top corners of a room, and ceiling without looking overly obvious, but still provide nice enough sound. The only setups that cater for this that I have seen are the Bose Lifestyle V25, Bose Acoustimass 10 (you need a seperate amp) or the B&W M1 Speakers or the B&W Mini Theature Packs ...
Focal Domes or a better alternative? | AVForums

If you like the look of the Focals then search out Orb Audio (mail order like BK from USA) or Anthony Gallo as alternatives. if you want more conventional look at MA radius HD series or if your pockets are deeper B&W FPM (work well with M1's as rears, I have this set up, Canterbury Audio often have deals on these).

The small speakers you are considering (Paradigm, B&W are the minis the M1?, Focal Dome) have some advantages over the box style speakers. I'll add the monitor Audio Apex. These cost more because of the materials they are made from like aluminum or composites for the speaker cabinet.
Gallo spherical speakers - what are they like? | Steve ...

Both speakers have 3" drivers (one just uses a 4" enclosure, the other a 5" enclosure) and REALLY need a sub unit to get any sort of bass. I highly recommend looking at other small speakers like the Monitor Audio Radius 90 or B&W M1, both sound significantly better (and cost less) then the A'Diva Ti.
Bose Vs. Orb | Audioholics Home Theater Forums

Audiophyte. Jan 9, 2005. #1. I need to buy really small speakers for my living room that will fit on the mantle piece over my fireplace. I was seriously considering the Bose Acoustimass® 5 speaker system. I then discovered on the net the Orb Company and their Classic Two Stereo Speaker System. Which is $129.00 more.
