I've recently built a system round the Asus P5N32-E SLI mb, everything runs ok apart from the onboard sound. I've plugged the sound card into its slot and plugged my optical cable into the mb but all I get is 2.1 sound not surround 5.1. My amp is set to receive input via optical but I cannot get it working with in 5.1.

I also have the P5N E-SLI board and just went to Win 7 and do not have issues with the sound. Try removing the current driver and let Win 7 install one on it's own, if that doesn't work I think it is likely you have another issue.
