Open any audio player and play a song or something. You'll not hear any sound, and if you press your volume keys, you'd still see the "Dummy" control output. Go to Sound settings: Settings > Sound; In the output section, you'll see "Dummy" selected as default output. Now clicking on the dropdown menu will give the option of "Speakers - Built-in-Audio".

I'm not using pulseaudio. I have "SB Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350], ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback (default Audio Device)" set above the others. Though, truth be told, I'm not sure which Soubd Blaster device should be on the top. I have tried them all, but to no avail. Perhaps the device that should be used was the one "forgotten" by Phonon.
