Re: Best Ps3 bitmapping sound settings? Playing a CD or ripping a CD to flac should sound EXACTLY the same. Any CD player made to spec will "correct" errors in the exact same way. The extra information on the CD is used to make sure the incoming bits are correct. If they are not correct, that extra information can be used to make them correct.

136. Ratings: +635. I've been looking into this Bitmapping thing, and it's supposed to work alongside upsampled music from 44khz to 88, and higher frequencies. I'm just trying it out, and I'm upsampling to 88khz (176khz I get no sound at all..) but it sounds weaker than the standard 48khz. The Bass seems to have dropped off a bit.

As I understand your connections you have the PS3 connected to the V-Dac and then to the Denon. I suggest that you connect the PS3 directly to the Denon, i.e. elimate the V-Dac from the setup, and check if that improves the sound. The Denon may be converting the analog audio signal from the V-DAC back to digital and then back again to analog.
