Polk RTA 11t: $950/pair Polk Audio may have the appearance of a marketing-led company, but according to surveys in the trade press, they appear to have loyal dealers who have a good regard both for the performance and saleability of Polk loudspeakers and for the level of service backup offered by the company. So much for the conventional wisdom!

The RTA11T started out as the Monitor 11T. They are the same speaker. As noted above, the RTA11T was upgraded to the RTA11TL and has the SL-3000 tri-laminate tweeter. The PR's are also tuned a little different, has a spoiler just above the tweeter, lower diffraction grills and improved cabinet rigidity. Monitor 11 RTA-11T RTA-11TL

I bought Polk Monitor Series 11T speakers 30 years ago. I assumed they were not up to snuff compared to speakers you can buy for comparable prices today, but listened to some music on them using a decent 2-channel amp and they sounded better than I expected. Converting the $950 I paid for the pair in 1987 is equivalent to $2,100 today.

The RTA 11t is mentioned in this 1987 lineup. Here is a Stereophile article from 1990. I may be wrong, but in 1991, the model became the RTA 11TL. I think the differences between the two models can be found on the Polk forums.
