BTW, here's a simple way to mount the db651's in the front doors. The mounting ring from Polk Audio has a bunch of mounting ears or tabs available. If you play with it, two of the ears will align properly with the top-most Subaru mounting screws. Use them. The bottom tab won't quite align - off about 1/4".

I am planning upgrade the front and rear speakers and wanted to ask you guys if getting the Polk DB651 would be worth the extra money for buying the spacers over the DB651s which will not require them. The DB651 have a slightly lower frequency response and have tweeters that are on a pivot whereas the slim version does not.

The db651 s is really the same speaker with a low-protrusion tweeter, but even with a 3/4" spacer the regular db651 model fits fine behind the panels. For some reason, the low end extension on the regular db651 is listed as being slightly better than on the db651s. phenryiv1. View Public Profile.
