Called Polk. Told them the problem, and they sent me a thumbdrive with the 1.35 FW. This is the same firmware already on the unit, but I thought it might be worth a shot. Flashed the unit, the issues weren't fixed. Called Polk again, explained the problems up to that point, they sent me a UPS label to return the unit for replacement.

I spoke with Ken Swauger of Polk Audio yesterday. He acknowledged that there is a problem with the I-Sonic and that it had been traced to the manufacturer that substituted (apparently substandard) parts without authorization. I sent two of my three units in today for replacement and am hopeful that this will finally solve the issue. SaveShare

Polk’s system, the I-Sonic ES2 ($499), follows i765’s lead in offering the equivalent of a sub-$300 audio system at a relatively huge premium, but offers several alternative features that might sway some potential customers in its direction. Polk apparently didn’t play tricks with frequency response to appeal to a mass audience, such as boosting the upper bass to conceal the lack of low bass, peaking the midrange for greater “presence,” or brightening the treble to add “clarity.” Instead, the I-Sonic sounded like a high-quality minimonitor in its overall balance.
