The rack amp was the best because the Dayton amp is sealed and takes up a lot (30%) of your airspace. So with the port mod, polyfill, and the external amp its dramatically better than your standard PSW1000 which I used for comparison when selecting amps and working on the port.

Too much to read first! I purchased the PSW 1000 a little more than two years ago. (SVS here I Come!). I have found this semi/sub to be very musical. The bass is fairly accurate down to 38hz ish. The response below this point rolls off sharply providing very little output below 30 hz. (fairly large room). This is why I call it a semi/sub.

My PolkAudio PSW10 immediately blows its fuse upon plug-in to 120V even when the Power switch is 'Off' and there is no audio in present. There are 2 (Power supply?) 4700 ufd electrolytics on the right edge of the PC board. the one closest to the rectifier shows 4.0 Ohms both ways while the other one shows 6.8 Ohms both ways.
