PSW1000 . fuse keeps blowing. So last week I realize my subwoofer was unplug, so I plugged it in. the switch was on the on position and once I plug it in I got a pop noise. So I pull the fuse see that it blew so I went to radioshack. I got 5amp 250volt slow blow as I dont have a manual and didnt think about the forums until yesterday.

dholmes, Yes, if your Polk is an 8-ohm, 250w speaker, a 2-amp fuse is right (actual answer is 1.98 amp, but rounding off is fine). If it were a 4-ohm, you d want a 4-amp fuse. Side Note 1: To produce the same power the current demand rises as the speaker impedance falls. This is why you often read in the Club about the need for high-current amps.

All was fine until a power surge (possible lightning) blew out all of my networking equipment as well as my Polk PSW10 which was on the same line. I opened the back and replaced the 2 amp, 250v fuse (which was blown) with a 2.5 amp,250v fuse which was all I had on hand. The new fuse blew immediately after the speaker hummed.

My PolkAudio PSW10 immediately blows its fuse upon plug-in to 120V even when the Power switch is 'Off' and there is no audio in present. There are 2 (Power supply?) 4700 ufd electrolytics on the right edge of the PC board. the one closest to the rectifier shows 4.0 Ohms both ways while the other one shows 6.8 Ohms both ways.
