I had the R1's for a day. They are the only Polk speaker I have owned that I did not like. Truly, I did not think they were worthy of the Polk name. For rears, they might be fine. Imaging with the R1 is good and very stable. The only criticism of the R1 is that the midrange and midbass could be more accurate, slight intermodulation is audible on complex pieces. This is only of concern if listening to audiophile quality recordings though. I compared these also to …
