R30's are actually better sounding speakers than the R50's. The R50's are larger but the vocal's/midrange is much more articulate in the R30's. At $80 a pair it would be hard to get a better pair of inexpensive speakers. The R30's use to sell for around $200 each at CC a while back before they phased them out and replaced them with newer models.

Still, Polk Audio can make a good speaker if they want to, and I was surprised that the smallest of the "R" series tower speakers gives you the best sound. I will try to find some Polk R15 bookshelf speakers for surrounds, and the Polk CSi40 Centre channel, which compliment these tower speakers well, and also sound great for Polk.

Anyway, the quality of the center speaker was great, and after the RT25's died, I decided to go for some floorstanding speakers. Polk Audio had been good to me, so I went with a pair of cheap R30s. They were Circuit City's floor models and only cost me $170 for the pair. At first they sounded okay, but I'm not satisfied with them.
