RT800i's sound muddy! I'm new to the form and new to Polk audio. I recently picked up 2 RT800i's, a CS400i and 2 RT25i's. I also have a D-BOX sub -- 100watts rms, 12" driver. I'm running this of off a Sony STR-DE575 receiver and the speakers sound muddy. My room is about 12' X 14', so it's rather small.

They are floor models: Polk Rt800i. They use a 2 1/2 way design. 1" silk dome tweeter, two 6 1/2" woofers. Yes, both speakers sound the same, muffled, like those singing the vocals had their hands in front of their mouths. Kind of a lousy description but like what Ryan SS said, " a barrier between me and the singer ".

The Rt800i is a decent speaker at best. The 90db rating at one watt is medocre. If you use a sub-woofer then this would be a good choice because this speaker lacks bass response. They also lack the clarity I would expect from a speaker in this price range. For the same price the Klipsh rf-3 would be a better buy. Similar Products Used:
