93.5 db eff is the highlite, Amazing midrange, pitch definition, dynamic range etc. The compromise is the bass can't keep up with the rest and replacement tweeters are nonexistant. The Kef should out play the Polk...I like their sweet soft non-fatiguing sound. KEFs of that era are extremely satisfying. You will want to be sure any 105/3, or 107 ...

I would stick to the TSi500's. The 500's will give you the extra "umph" you want if you are choosing to wait on a sub purchase. The 6.5 inch mid/base will assist in the extra bass also you will be able to use a decent amp without harming the speakers …

To be fair bemaniac, the Q700's are quite different to the Q500's. The larger bass and UniQ drivers produce a warmer, smoother sound than the Q500, which I find are ideal for smaller rooms or those that don't want too much bass. mvg27 - I can't comment on the Polks, but I can give first hand experience of the KEF's.

While I endorse KEF, listening to both would be advised before making a decision if at all possible. If it's the LSi703 stand mount in consideration (street price about $1500 a pair), then the only KEF at that same point would be the much touted LS50. It won't have the bass response of the Polk, but blows the Polk away in every other area.
