I haven't heard many Audio Research amps as I moved away from hi-power tube/low efficiency speaker pairing but sure liked some of the ones I'd heard in the past, particularly the 100wpc model that was used with Maggies at last year's AKfest. If you need the power and you can get a VT130 for $1800 (damn!) I think it would be a very good move.
