So I lost audio also in my PowerBook G4 1.67, 1.5Gb, not sure why. I had no red light in the headphone jack - assuming that's where I was supposed to be looking. Tried resetting PRAM by holding down command-option-P-R while starting up. Couldn't tell that PRAM reset, never got a second startup chime (much less a 5th) as instructions indicate.

Powerbook won't start up (about 5 years old)... no sound, no light, nothing. I have tried resetting PMU, can't do the PRAM reset... no joy with either of these). I recently replaced the power adapter, but should be fine as is the same model as my old one. Problem started when I left ethernet cable plugged in overnight.

My equipment is a PowerBook G4 12" (PowerBook6,4) from April 2004 (NewWorld Generation) with CPU 7447A 1.33 GHz and RAM 1.25 GB DDR 333 MHz. Except for the audio it runs pretty smoothly with Xfce 4.10.

Meg: Thanks for your post. I have been trying to get this powerbook G4 15 inch to boot for a month. I finally went to the Apple Store where the "genius" told me the logic board was dead. Her analysis lead to this conclusion by simply depressing the power button and stating "it does not turn on". Simply genius.
