If they don't sound noisy, then it could be mains interference. The noise filtering plug, or mains filter strip, eliminates, or reduces, noise on the mains circuit. It is the sort of thing that hifi nuts use to eliminate mains noise that might upset their amplifiers. That noise is not usually at the frequencies where the LAN Powerline does its thing.

Is the noise being picked by the power supply, or through the air from the radiation of the powerline antenna you created? Maybe plug one adapter into an extension cord and wave the adapter and/or the extension near the gear and listen.

Since installing powerline networking I am experiencing significant interference and ticking when listening to my Laptop Audio. The same noise occurs through both the analog headphone port (which is amplified) and through my usb soundcard (which has amplified headphone port). The same noise occurs when the laptop is plugged into every outlet in my …

Powerline adaptors are on the wall, but it's their nature to introduce noise on the power grid - they code a signal into the electricity, so it makes sense the noise is there. The amps are on another wall plug, but being in the same room as the powerline adaptor, they all get the noise (same circuit/circuit breaker on the house power grid).

Your noise is single digit volts; probably less. Obviously a surge protector ignores that; is ineffective. Same applies to a UPS. It also does not claim to provide that noise reduction. Solution is a two step process. First an incoming wire and a completely different outgoing wire must be identified as the noise path.

Turntable hum doesn't kick in until the 60 on the Ayre. These are not small problems. These would be audible to the biggest skeptic from Hydrogen Audio. They are reproducible and it's plain as day. So please avoid the Powerline adapters. They are not good for audio no matter what your level of system, $500 or $20,000. Mine are going on eBay today.

Audible noise resulted, which was still present with all reasonable combinations of outlets used near the HT, even with the powerline receiver unit disconnected from ethernet. Only unplugging the powerline receiver from the wall socket fixed the issue. Same powerline adapter in both cases, non-wifi unit. Last edited: Aug 7, 2019 diegooo1972 OP D
