The music stops after slide # 999, which is the limit set in the dropdown menue for the audio in Powerpoint 97. What I was trying to find out is what Powerpoint version eliminated the 999 slide limit for the sound. I would upgrade to a newer version of Powerpoint but want to make sure it is backward compatible to the slide file that I created.

My problem is this: I have figured out how to fade the sound I add in a presentation in Powerpoint 10 but the fade only works for one slide, the specific slide I add the sound to. If I choose to keep a sound for, say, 3 consecutive slides, I add the sound to the first slide and alter the duration and pick where to cut it.

I've had a few problems saving as mp4 from ppt, both video and audio. How I got around the audio problems was to save as wmv and then use a video converter (there are a number that are freely available) to convert from wmv to mp4. All audio problems were resolved. I hope this works for you.
