Digital Link III has more authority and bass (it is DC coupled design, no capacitor in signal path). Contrary to what PS Audio advertise, I did not find the Digital Link III warm, it was as detailed and as neutral as the DAC 1. I have a PS Audio Digital Link III with stage III mod by Cullen Circuits. Rick Cullen used to work at PS Audio and designed the original Digital Link. Unfortunatly, Cullen Circuits is out of business. I suggest that you get demos of each DAC and try them out. That's the only way that you can decide which one is for you.
