It should say "multichannel PCM" or something similar. The PS3 sends out all game audio over HDMI that way. If it doesn't, then that means the output settings in your sound settings menu are incorrectly (de)selected. If your PS3 were working, I would say do a re-set and see what the PS3 automatically selects as viable audio options.
