Personally, HDMI audio is a complete waste in my personal opinion. The speaks built into even really top end plasma displays totally pale in comparison to external speaks! Just connect that PS3 to a decent amplifier/speak combination and enjoy the viedo only on the display. This opinon on audio quality extends to the center channel as well.
