This is weird, it looks like the permissions on the file are wrong, we really want to prevent pulseaudio from accessing the hardware device (thus forcing it to play audio through cras). $ ls -l /dev/snd/controlC0. crw-rw---T 1 root audio 116, 9 Oct 25 15:25 /dev/snd/controlC0.
