Flash Breaking Pulseaudio? - Ask Ubuntu
https://askubuntu.com/questions/23556/flash-breaking-pulseaudio
If I stop playing sound and then load the Flash object, Flash gets sound and seemingly takes control of Pulseaudio until pulseaudio -k. May or may not be related: When Flash doesn't get to output sound it tends to crash Chromium. I can't say if this is only when Flash gets control of Pulseaudio or not, as it doesn't always crash.

Pulseaudio will run on a per-user basis in a default setup. Therefore we do not need root permissions to kill it. The command to restart/reset a running pulseaudio sound server from a terminal is simply issueing. pulseaudio -k. By doing to the sound server will autospawn and restart immediately in a default setting.

As far as I can tell PulseAudio is crashing causing audio playback to fail on the mirror. Opening Pauvcontrol and muting then unmuting the output sometimes will enable playback for a short period (5-10 seconds). You can keep muting / unmuting to resume playback for short bursts of time.

In my experience, pulseaudio -vvvv is enough to give you some idea what is actually going wrong. If you really get a crash, as in "segementation violation" etc., using strace or starting it with gdb, if possible on a version with debugging symbols, should again give you an idea what actually goes wrong.

Re: [SOLVED] can't play flash in firefox using pulseaudio. well, awesome, seems to work. "EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1" in mms.cfg AND "card 1" in ~/.asoundrc => flash often crashes, otherwise described behavior. "EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=0" in mms.cfg AND "card 1" in ~/.asoundrc => flash does not crash but does not load either, no sound.

Hey guys, recently I installed the pulse audio following the archwiki. So far everything is working perfect except that sometimes one action of firefox(not play flash, just normally open a new tab or something) could crash pulseaudio and the output sound becomes noise of current. But after i restart pulseaudio, it can work again with no problem.
