And maybe you need to check the PulseAudio device rather than the ALSA device? Just guessing there. In KDE there is a much easier GUI way to check if audio is working - System Settings > Audio > Advanced. Just select the desired output and click the buttons. xorg.conf is usually not required these days.

The only other real difference is the Ubuntu System is in an ARGON M2 case that uses an add in board to give me full size Hdmi connectors and the other Manjaro System is a case that doesn't. The Manjaro system has just worked no problem sound and all but the person I am trying to get this to work for wants Ubuntu.
