Re: pulseaudio lost soxr resampler method option. Hi Fernan2, and welcome to the forum. According to this bug report, Ubuntu added (or readded?) support in 18.10. Mint 19.x is based on Ubuntu 18.04, so you're not going to be able to use the SoX resamplers unless you compile PulseAudio yourself, or Ubuntu backports the change to 18.04.

Setting this to false makes PulseAudio use the default-sample-rate even if it means re-sampling 441000 audio. This is the better choice you will be playing audio from different sources - and you will end up doing that from time to time. resample-method sets the type of technology used for resampling. speex-float is a good option for weaker ...

The resampler is also available separately as the SoX Resampler library (libsoxr). I want to run a command from a script, like play mysound.mp3, and have the volume for such invocations be remembered by PulseAudio. I do not want that volume to apply to every invocation of play that I make on my system, just these special ones. In PulseAudio, you can set sound per-application (aka "sink input").
Audiophile – PulseAudio

By default, PulseAudio (PA) uses very conservative settings. This will work fine for most audio media as you will most likely have 44,100Hz sample rate files. However, if you have higher sample rate recordings it is recommended that you increase the sample rate that PA uses. In /etc/pulse/daemon.conf add: default-sample-format = s32le default ...
