Pure Audio is intended for use with full range speakers and disables the sub. Despite the hype in the manual I don't see it as a plus and prefer to use stereo mode for stereo music. Ye i tend to agree with you, really just looking to change a few setting in stereo mode to remove some of the processing to maybe give a bit of a cleaner sound. LAB3

My Onkyo TX-8050 receiver has a "Pure Audio" listening mode. According to the owner's manual, this mode (1) disables the video signal output; (2) turns off the display; and (3) bypasses the bass and treble controls. I usually leave this mode off, however I've been experimenting with it on and off lately.

Pure Audio turns off all processing, audio and video so you get no crossover/bass management and no audyssey room correction. The idea is by turning off all the circuitry you get the purest signal from source to speaker. The fact that the sub is not sounding is correct.
