I’m using Pure Audio setting when listen to music which means the Subs Is not used and can’t be enabled, I’m getting good bass response from my fronts but would like a bit more. The only way I can get the fronts and to work together is using the Stereo Option. However I can’t get it to sound like the pure option.

In fact to ears more used to hearing their sounds enhanced, the music is likely to sound on the flat side. With my Onkyo 696 and being a bit old school I like my stereo music to sound as it should. That said with my 66yo ears, I can't hear any difference between Pure with display off or Direct with it on, so I go the latter.

When I tried switching the Pure Audio and Direct modes on and compared them to the plain Stereo mode of my Onkyo stereo receiver, I didn't hear much of a difference, if any at all. Supposedly, there's supposed to be a "hiss" taken out of the tone controls (bass/treble) when engaging Pure or Direct, but I just didn't hear it...

The Onkyo had more features, including Audyssey. But the Marantz was superior in both audio and video in my system. The MRAC calibration in the 5002 is not an EQ. All it does is set the volume levels and distances of each speaker, as well as well as the sizes of each speaker.
