Pure Direct also turns off the display to try to minimize the possibility of electrical noise getting into the audio circuits. No audio processing means no bass management. The lowest frequencies, the ones below what the woofers in your speakers can reproduce, will be lost, unless you enable "Subwoofer Plus", which can cause "bloated bass".

When using direct or pure direct mode , the pioneer manual states: DIRECT: Plays back sound from the source with the least modification next to pure direct. With direct, the only modifications added to PURE DIRECT playback are calibration of the sound field by the MCACC system and the phase control effect. PURE DIRECT lays back unmodofied sound from the …

Pure Direct, Direct and Straight means the AVR bypasses the Tone Controls, EQ, DSP. You can still bypass the Tone Controls, EQ and DSP in Stereo Mode. When you bypass the Tone Controls, EQ and DSP in Stereo Mode or usePure Direct, Direct or Straight mode, the sound may seem identical to you when you are just listening to music or watch videos.

Post title pretty much explains everything. I have a Pioneer VSX-921 that will only output sound in pure direct mode. So I can get sound out of my speakers but in PD I don't believe the crossover works and I definitely don't get any output over LFE to my sub. Looking for any suggestions someone might have. When I tried switching the Pure Audio and Direct modes on and compared them to the plain Stereo mode of my Onkyo stereo receiver, I didn't hear much of a difference, if any at all. Supposedly, there's supposed to be a "hiss" taken out of the tone controls (bass/treble) when engaging Pure or Direct, but I just didn't hear it...

Generally I like the direct as it uses the subwoofer (at least with my receiver) as appropriate but honestly I seem to like them both. East of England. Nov 26, 2019. #6. Pure Direct on an all analogue integrated amplifier is only going to bypass the tone controls, loudness and maybe balance control. It should, I guess, slightly reduce any noise imparted through that circuit by having a pure direct path. In A/V amplifiers, the function can turn off a lot of DSP processing.

Direct and Pure Direct — Polk Audio Forum

Direct is the same as Pure Direct except it uses all your setting from Maccac I always like Pure Direct because it tends to be louder and more Bass heavy which humans tend to enjoy. But its far from accurate. especially in multi channel. I gave Direct another real chance, as well as setting my towers to large and the sub to "plus".
