You can check if the actual CD you're trying to use actually has an audio track on it (be it the original or backup) by playing it like a normal CD (track 1 will be all the data, the rest of the tracks will be the CD audio, if there's only one track you've got no CD audio obviously). When I insert an audio CD, .cda files are found on "DVD RW Drive (E:) Audio CD" from explorer. But from Windows Media Player, it displays "Unknown (E:)" and from iTunes CD cannot be found. What should I check first? I've been using Windows for more than 20 years and got surprised to find I couldn't do such a simple stuff..

Pop the disc in a standard CD player, or use your computer's audio CD player, and give it a shot. Usually the data is stored in track 1, so start with track 2. Actually, this thread at Digital Press says Raiden Project does not use CD audio. Oh well, you can still give it a shot. Edited February 21, 2007 by skunkworx

recognise the CD, but when I select tracks to rip, it replies "Exact Audio. Copy couldn't detect a matching read command for this CD-ROM drive. You. should try to activate the autodetection ..." Tried that - autodetect cannot read the disc. Note that Windows Media Player still does OK, and can play Metallica's.
