My problem was that my Apple TV remote was pointed near my MacBook, and the play button on the remote started music playing on iTunes. Open System Preferences, Security, and click "Disable remote control inferred receiver". This did the trick for me, if you don't have an Apple TV/Remote, then I have no idea why it is playing music.
