"In the AC'97 design, the audio output is sent to the jack. If the headphones are not plugged in, the jack directs the audio to the return pins that are connected to the speakers. I just installed Windows 7 onto my pc and now my Realtek ac97 sound card won't work. I must have looked at about 10 forums and installed about a million drivers (driver RC2.36 installed.) I can't find the device anywhere only Digital Audio (S/PDIF) and (HDMI) appear but I don't even have HDMI ports.
