When I was running Windows XP with Realtek's HD Audio drivers installed, its control panel had a feature I appreciated alot, where it would -not- mute the rear audio output jack when the front panel jack is being used. This is, for some reason, lacking from both Realtek's and MSI's customized control panels for Windows 7.

They work or they don't, there isn't a way to turn them on/off. Try uninstalling any drivers/software listed in Add and Remove programs, reboot, and then reinstall the drivers.
