A really good sounding reggae album, near audiophile quality, is on Wild Child records (which is part of Mapleshade records). The band - Midnite - are a pretty good reggae band and might be worth checking out. I have it and I like it a lot. The album is called Ras Mek Peace:

A Dub box set that I have is the Trojan Dub Box Set It covers the 1970s peak of dub over 3 CD, with tracks from Lee 'Scratch' Perry and his Upsetters, Gregory Issacs, King Tubby,Roots Radics, Tommy McCook and more. One from this box set that is a regular on my playlists is King Tubby's patient dub - King Tubby.

for me part of the charm is that reggae is that it is not audiophile quality usually..the stuff i like, 1966-1975 is pretty earthy and i feel a lot would be lost if the recordings were "audiophile" quality.....reggae from later than that does often sound better but the music is nowhere near as good, imo, plus it sounds sterile and lacks any real …
