Does the stock Audiolab M-DAC have a switch mode power supply? If it does, a linear PSU is as far from snake oil as you can get. Linear supplies have around 40dB less noise, distortion and interference, and this is reflected in much improved sound quality. They shouldn't be expensive, though; not for a DAC. Nick
