I'm in the process of building a diy DAC/Preamp. I'm looking for a way to add volume control using a remote to my system. Preferably a physical volume knob aswell as a remote using IR or RF. I looked around on the ebay and found a few options, please tell me if these are even worth trying...

I have a 2 channel stereo system in a closet in a 2nd floor listening room. I plan to run a second pair of speaker cables, from the amp in the closet, to a pair of speakers in a 1st floor room. Most of the time I will be listening in either the 2nd or …

DIY External Volume Control: Phwoar, volume knobs. Arguably, the best kind of knob. And certainly the most enjoyable part of any decent audio gear - you can tell a lot about an amplifier or DAC by the texture and rotation quality of it’s primary enloudener. But there&rsquo…
A Remote Controlled Stereo Volume Control - Arduino ...

I built myself a remote stereo volume control. What I chose. The only solid state dual attenuator chips I could find were overkill, with 80 steps of 1 db. I decided that I only needed about 20db attenuation in 1.5db steps. This would give me enough range with smooth transition between steps. I chose a fairly standard circuit for the attenuator ...

Remote Volume Control for Old Stereo Amp: I have an old Stereo Amp that I have on my living room. It works pretty good, but it is so old that It doesn't have a remote control, which makes it very annoying to use while sitting on the couch. So I made this, a device that I …
TPA3116 remote volume control | diyAudio

Perfect size, perfect output, etc. My problem is, as with every other TPA3116 board I've tried, when I try to move the volume control off the board, I get a lot of hiss at low volume levels. This hiss is NOT present when the on board volume control is used. The on-board volume control is just a 50k dual pot. I'm sure not the greatest quality.
Audio Volume Control Attenuator with IR Control
http://electronics-diy.com/audio-volume-control-attenuator-with-ir-control.php
A stepwise volume control is implemented with a set of small relays and resistors. In a high-end audio system, a noticable sound improvement over potentiomeneters can be obtained, also over 'audio grade' potentiometers. Clearly, the IR remote control provides convenience over solutions with stepped attenuator rotary switches.
Remote volume control knobs (bass knob)..any universal ...

For a bass knob or any volume knob, to adjust the voltage gain on the amp, use the type with 2 pairs of rcas. 1 pair is the input and 1 pair is the output. Eg, if u want to use it on your sub, simply connect the inputs on the bass knob to the rcas running from the amp to the headunit then connect a short 3ft rca lead from the output of the knob and into the headunit.
Volume control with remote control : diyaudio

Probably the easiest thing to do is to get a cheap little stereo with an IR remote { 1 , 2 } between your source and your power amp. Leave the power amp turned up pretty high and then adjust the volume on the input stereo to control the volume level.
DIY: Build a controller with a knob that can easily change ...
https://www.electronics-lab.com/diy-build-controller-knob-can-easily-change-volume-app-pc/
The knob on the controller takes an input from the encoder/button to display the desired app where volume is to be adjusted. All we need to do is to just turn the knob to select the particular app, push down and rotate to turn the volume up or down. To switch to another program, press the knob down and repeat the same process, simple!
