Using the Rives CD, it would seem that my main bass problems are around 40hz (+8db) and 100/125 hz (+12db). Using a cheap behringer Ultra-Q T1951 parametric eq, it would seem that the 100/125 hz causes the most noticable boominess on most music. reducing the 110hz by 7db has helped quite a lot.
