I finally found an used Rogue 66 and then sent it back to the manufacturer for a complete makeover including the Magnum upgrade. I have been using Acurus RL-11 and I also own a Creek OBH-12. Both are a very decent SS preamp (see the reviews) but the Rogue just sound much better to my ears.

The 66 Magnum fulfills this need and then some. Soundstaging, inner detail and microdynamics are much better served by the the Rogue. Bandwidth is also wider yet more controlled than that of the SP9 - which sounds slightly compressed in direct comparisons - yet the Rogue seems never to add or detract to the music.

The Rogue 66 Magnum served up music very well in my system. Whether I played John Scofield or Bruckner, the Magnum 66 showed its worth. A quick switch back to my Canary preamp showed that it is a little constrained in comparison, though I noticed that the 66 tended to be a little brighter in the top end.

Hi All, I just purchased a Rogue 66 magnum from a fellow Audiogoner to replace my Golden Tube SEP-1. (Mainly because of the Home Theater Bypass and remote control options) I must admit that I like the sound of the GT SEP-1 better! The Rogue 66 has a higher noise floor (hiss). Possibly from weak tubes or it could be AC noise as well.
