The Rosegarden start-up screen says to install a synth app. I installed Qsynth but don't know how to use it with Rosegarden. The start-up screen also says to install Jack for audio. I run Qsynth (simultaneously with Rosegarden) where I have chosen a soundfont in the Setup > Soundfont. In Setup > Audio I have set the audio driver to "alsa" instead of "jack", as I read somewhere should be done. And in Studio > Manage MIDI devices I have tried all combinations of MIDI In and Out - and still no MIDI sound

To be clear, what you search in QJack audio tab is the sound source you like to rec : so play a MIDI file in Rosegarden, and disconnect one by one every OUT in QJack, till there is no sound anymore. So, the last disconnected OUT have to be plugged IN Ardour, and that’s it ! But first, you have to be sure that QJack “knows” your sound.
